BMW X5 vs Audi Q7: Performance Specs

BMW wins the power brawl-and fuel economy, too!

Do you prefer power or fuel economy when you get behind the wheel? For the 2022 X5 and the Q7, it isn't even a competition-the BMW outperforms the Audi in both categories. How is this possible?

When it comes to fuel economy, only the BMW X5 offers plug-in hybrid power. The X5 xDrive45e earns an EPA-estimated 50 combined MPGe when in all-electric mode, which lasts up to 30 miles.* The 2022 Q7 hasn't been tested yet, but without a plug-in hybrid option, it won't come close to that figure. Last year, the Q7 earned just 21 combined MPG.

When it comes to power, Audi puts up more of a fight with 500 horsepower in the performance-tuned SQ7. However, BMW still comes out ahead with the X5 M, which has 617 horsepower on tap.

A BMW Light Show: Bask in the Sky Lounge

The X5's best advantage: Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof

The BMW X5 and the Audi Q7 create atmospheres unto their own when you step inside their respective cabins. You really can cloak yourself in luxury, with handsome leather-appointed seats and stunning trims.

Meanwhile, standard panoramic moonroofs let you see more of the outside world. Even passengers in the rear seats will have better views. But the BMW X5 has another trick up its sleeve.

You'll have your very own light show with the available Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof in the BMW X5. With LED illumination to light up your moonroof at night, your passengers can enjoy the colors and sounds that surround them! You won't find a similar feature in the Audi Q7.

X5 vs Q7: Which Has More Cargo Space?

With 72.3 cubic feet, it's the BMW X5 by a hair

As midsize SUVs, the 2022 X5 and the Q7 have plenty of space to go around. That space can be occupied by up to seven passengers across three rows of seats-or some of it can be saved for packing up your gear.

The BMW and Audi SUVs promise more cargo volume than most other vehicles, but which one has more room available? Well, fold all but the first-row seats in the BMW X5, and you'll find a grand total of 72.3 cubic feet of space for cargo! In the same configuration, the Audi Q7 falls just short with 69.6 cubic feet.

As premium SUVs, the X5 and the Q7 make loading cargo as convenient as possible. Even when your hands are full, a hands-free power tailgate will be on hand to help. Only the BMW X5, however, uses a split-level tailgate so cargo won't roll out when you're parked and unloading on an incline.

2022 BMW X5 vs Audi Q5: Which Is Better?

If you want a comfy, cozy SUV for the drive, the 2022 BMW X5 and the 2022 Audi Q5 are sure to satisfy in so many ways. With ample passenger space and luxury features, they're ready to conquer.

But if Solon, Cleveland, and Hudson, OH, families are looking for a bit more power under the hood-plus a few premium features to make the drive unique-the X5 stands out for all the right reasons.

You can see this Sports Activity Vehicle® in action when you schedule a test drive at BMW Cleveland. We're family owned and the largest BMW dealer in Ohio!
