BMW 3 Series Engines and Power

The 3 Series starts with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that boasts 255 horsepower and 294 pound-feet of torque. From there, you can opt for a 3.0-liter six-cylinder that produces 382 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque with the M340i, or a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and electric motor that create 288 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque with the 330e.

The high-performance engines start with a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder that produces 473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque with the M3. Finally, the range-topping engine is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder that produces 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque with the M3 Competition. Eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive are standard, though all-wheel drive is available. The M3 is the sole model that offers a six-speed manual transmission.
