High-tech bells and whistles. As easy to use as the low-tech ones.

WHAT IS BLUETOOTH® TECHNOLOGY?

Bluetooth wireless technology is designed to replace the cables connecting portable and/or fixed devices. This technology is commonly used to connect your computer with peripherals such as printers, keyboards, mouse, etc. This technology is different from Wi-Fi or WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network).

HOW BLUETOOTH WORKS

Bluetooth devices utilize a low powered radio in the device that provides both voice and data transmission. The range can vary from 3 feet to 300 feet. Most mobile devices have a Class 2 radio with a range of up to 33 feet.

WHAT DOES COMPATIBILITY MEAN?

In order to use your Bluetooth equipped device it has to connect with another device, just like connecting a cable. In order to operate properly, both devices must have compatible software, which permits the exchange of information. The BMW Compatible Phone List contains phones that are approved for use with the Bluetooth system in your car. Using a phone on the list will provide you the best functionality while in your car. While some phones that are not listed may work in a limited mode, there is a possibility that connection could damage the software that operates your vehicle, which is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
